The Netherlands will join a European hybrid warfare knowledge and expertise centre. Ank Bijleveld-Schouten informed her fellow Ministers of Defence in the Northern Group of the decision at their meeting in Helsinki.

Bijleveld: Defence expenditure of European NATO countries heading in the right direction

“The European NATO countries are heading in the right direction when it comes to increasing defence spending,” commented Minister of Defence Ank Bijleveld-Schouten during the meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence held in Brussels. The Netherlands will structurally add 1.5 billion euros to its defence budget, meaning it will increase to 10.4 billion in 2021.

King visits army units in Germany

King Willem-Alexander paid a visit to army units in Bergen-Hohne in Germany. The royal visit was paid in the context of international cooperation. 43 Mechanised Brigade (NLD) works closely with 1 Panzer Division (DEU).
