25 EU member states are to permanently cooperate on a structural basis with regard to defence and security. This cooperation will take place under the flag of PESCO, which stands for permanent structured cooperation. The Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs formally established the partnership in Brussels last week.

House of Representatives gives the green light for extension of mission

The Netherlands’ contributions to the UN peacekeeping mission in Mali and the NATO mission in Afghanistan are to be extended until the end of 2018.

Final F-16s delivered to Jordan

The final 3 of a total of 15 F-16s that have been sold to Jordan left Volkel Air Base for their new home, Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, on Thursday 14 December.

Defence continues to provide combat power to NATO and EU in 2018

The Netherlands will continue its contribution to the German-led multinational NATO battle group in Lithuania in 2018. It will also contribute to the rapidly deployable NATO Response Force (NRF) and EU Battlegroup (EUBG) combat units.
