A look at the Defence news 5 – 11 February

Dutch F-16s supported ground troops in Iraq and eastern Syria in 11 missions.  During 4 of these missions, ISIS fighters, logistic storage locations and artillery deployments were attacked. This was reported in the weekly review of Defence operations (31 January - 6 February).

1 year of eFP: Netherlands Minister of Defence visits military personnel in Lithuania

The Netherlands Minister of Defence, Ank Bijleveld-Schouten, visited Dutch units in Lithuania on the occasion of the first anniversary of the enhanced Forward Presence (eFP). Since March 2017, the Netherlands has provided between 250 and 300 military personnel to reinforce the military presence at Europe’s eastern border.

F-16s check aircraft ‘without communication’

Dutch air defence control personnel at AOCS Nieuw Milligen activated the Quick Reaction Alert to check a passenger aircraft. Contact with the aircraft was not possible. 2 F-16s from the Belgian air force conducted the QRA.
