A look at the Defence news 13 – 19 March

Dutch F-16s supported ground troops in Iraq and eastern Syria this week. Weapons were deployed on 2 of the 10 missions against the ISIS terrorist organisation. This was reported in the weekly review of Defence operations (7 - 13 March).

HNLMS Holland, one of the four patrol ships of the RNLN is once again fully deployable, which is sooner than expected. The vessels’ certificates of seaworthiness were suspended on discovery of problems with the water mist system.

Marines train counterterrorism skills at high-profile location

A squadron of the Marine Corps and teams of the Special Intervention Service have completed a three-week training programme in the USA. The shooting houses and ranges of the training location in Arkansas make it possible to produce life-like simulations of every conceivable terrorist scenario.
