A look at the Defence news 16 - 22 May

Dutch F-16s supported ground troops during 10 missions in eastern Syria. Force was used in 2 of these missions. (This was reported in the 8 - 15 May weekly review of Defence operations.)

Logistics support and supply ship HNLMS Karel Doorman has completed its participation in NATO’s Operation Sea Guardian. The ship monitored shipping traffic on the Mediterranean Sea in April and May.

Defence ministers visit tank battalion

The Netherlands and Germany will further study and develop the digital integration of land forces. Minister of Defence Ank-Bijleveld-Schouten and her German counterpart Ursula von der Leyen signed a letter of intent in this regard. They did so during their visit to Lohheide, Germany, home of 414 Tank Battalion, which includes 100 men of 43 Mechanised Brigade.
