The tensions in the east did not go unnoticed by the crew of HNLMS Evertsen. As the Dutch air defence and command frigate traversed the Black Sea, right through Russia’s back garden, it was under constant Russian aerial and maritime observation.
Dutch personnel teach Afghans the art of arrest
At the request of the Afghan government, a Dutch Special Operations Advisory Team is teaching Afghan military personnel how to arrest members of the Taliban and other criminals. The Dutch team comprises personnel from the Commando Corps and the Maritime Special Operations Force.
Bijleveld: “Together, we are strong, our unity is our strength”
As far as Minister of Defence Ank Bijleveld is concerned, NATO’s 70th birthday is a milestone that should usher in a year of reflection. She continued by saying that the Alliance is the cornerstone of our freedom. Bijleveld made these remarks at the recent NATO Night held in Utrecht, Netherlands.
HNLMS Groningen steams towards the Caribbean
The crew of HNLMS Groningen are on their way to the Caribbean. For the next two years, the patrol vessel will act as the NLD guard ship in the Caribbean. The crew will be relieved after 4 months and fly home.
