A look at the Defence news 29 April – 6 May

After 5 years, the Netherlands has ended its contribution to UN mission Minusma. Close to 6,000 Dutch military personnel set foot in the copper-coloured desert of Mali. Their most important task was conducting (long distance) reconnaissance missions to collect information for the headquarters in Bamako. A 100-member redeployment team has started the dismantling of the Dutch camp in Gao.

Activities of Russia and China cause concern

The offensive (cyber)activities of particularly Russia and China are a cause for concern. In 2018, the Defence Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD) discovered among other things several attempts at digital espionage. This information and more can be found in the 2018 MIVD annual report.
