The United States has requested the Netherlands for assistance in safeguarding free and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman. The Dutch government is currently assessing the advisability and feasibility of complying with the request.

Dutch State accepts liability for damages in respect of Srebrenica survivors

The Dutch government has accepted the verdict of the Netherlands Supreme Court regarding the case against the Dutch government brought to court by the relatives of the victims of Srebrenica. The Dutch state has thus acknowledged liability for the damages suffered, as determined by the Supreme Court. The Minister of Defence, Ank Bijleveld-Schouten, responded by saying that she was pleased that there was now clarity in this matter.

Marksman halts suspect speedboats

Last week, the ocean-going patrol vessel HNLMS Groningen had an eventful few days in the Caribbean. Within a few days, the vessel’s crew intercepted a cocaine shipment, a large sum of cash and also rescued a drowning person from the sea.
