A look at the Defence news 30 March – 6 April

Medical supplies and equipment to treat patients suffering from the coronavirus disease in the Caribbean were taken by a C-17 transport aircraft to Sint Maarten, one of the Dutch Windward Islands in the region.

The aircraft departed Eindhoven Air Base after the supplies had been loaded by Dutch military personnel.


EU focuses on the importance of the armed forces in fighting COVID-19. The COVID-19 virus is demanding a great deal of attention within the European Union. 

The armed forces of all affected countries are lending full support to the populations of their nations. The Netherlands emphasizes the importance of a good exchange of information and is calling for European member states to support one another in order to overcome this crisis. This was also discussed during the video conference between the European Ministers of Defence, including the Dutch Minister of Defence Ank Bijleveld-Schouten.
