HNLMS Karel Doorman is set to depart the Caribbean on 15 June. The joint support ship, over 200 metres in length, has been in the area since 24 April to carry out ‘Carib Support’. This operation is intended to assist local authorities in the fight against the coronavirus. Upon the ship’s arrival in the Caribbean, a large-scale outbreak of COVID-19 was expected on the islands.

Storm damages RNLA Chinook transport helicopter in the US

A RNLA Chinook transport helicopter has been damaged by a storm in the United States. The damage occurred as two RNLA Chinooks were making their way to a US manufacturing plant in the context of the Chinook replacement and modernisation project.

HNLMS Zeeland seizes 350 kilos of drugs

In the night of 1 June, the ocean-going patrol vessel HNLMS Zeeland intercepted a drugs transport in the Caribbean. The drugs, 350 kilos of cocaine, were being transported in a small go-fast boat. The two crew members of the boat were arrested.
