A look at the Defence news 12 – 18 October

The recently published Defence Vision 2035 'Fighting for a secure future' states that by 2035 the Netherlands defence organisation must be a smart and technologically advanced organisation; an organisation that has a strong ability to adapt to situations and that acts on the basis of the best information. In addition, the defence organisation is a reliable partner to its national and international partners in order to collectively deal with threats.

NATO trains for nuclear mission at Volkel Air Base

Last week, NATO conducted training flights from Volkel Air Base relating to possible nuclear deployment. Around 50 aircraft from various NATO allies took part in the training flights. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, Netherlands Minister of Defence Ank Bijleveld-Schouten, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe Tod Wolters and the Netherlands Chief of Defence Admiral Rob Bauer attended the exercise.
