1 (German/Netherlands) Corps

The headquarters of 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps is one of NATO’s High Readiness Forces (Land) Headquarters. Germany and the Netherlands share responsibility for the corps’s command and control capabilities. The corps is based in and can be ready for deployment in and outside NATO territory within 20 days.

1 (German/Netherlands) Corps headquarters

The Netherlands provides various components of this rapidly deployable multinational headquarters and associated communication and information systems battalion.
The staff of the headquarters consists of more than 400 military and civilian personnel. Most positions are divided equally between Germany and the Netherlands. Some 70 positions are reserved for military personnel from other NATO and EU Member States.

NATO Response Force

The headquarters of 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps can be deployed for the NATO Response Force (NRF). If required, the NRF provides NATO’s rapid response to crises, anywhere in the world.
