43 Mechanised Brigade
Thanks to its armoured and non-armoured vehicles, 43 Mechanised Brigade can be swiftly deployed over great distances. Not only can it be deployed on combat and peace operations, but it can also provide disaster relief and conduct ceremonial tasks.
Mechanised brigade
The CV90 infantry fighting vehicle with its 35mm rapid-fire gun and the Fennek reconnaissance vehicle form the backbone of the brigade. With these armoured vehicles, the unit is able to operate in any type of terrain.
In addition, the brigade has a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) response team.
German – Dutch cooperation
The Mechanised Brigade has been part of the German 1st Panzer Division since 17 March 2016. 43 Mechanised Brigade’s 414 Tank Battalion is a fully integrated German - Dutch battalion. This form of cooperation is unique within NATO.
As a result of this intensive cooperation with Germany, the brigade can make use of fully operational Leopard 2A6 main battle tanks.
