Special Security Missions Brigade
The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee’s Special Security Missions Brigade (BSB) has security, observation and arrest teams. The BSB is deployed whenever rapid, specialist action is required.
BSB deployment
The brigade operates independently. If necessary, it acts in concert with police or military units. The brigade’s tasks include:
- forcing entry into buildings;
- protecting premises and individuals;
- identifying explosives.
Protective equipment
The brigade has special clothing and vehicles at its disposal for the protection of its members. The protective equipment that team members use is determined prior to each mission. The brigade also uses fast and practical vehicles. Specially trained dogs are available to assist in the arrest of suspects. In difficult situations, the presence of a 'K9' provides additional security for the team.
