The Dutch contribution to the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC)

The Ministry of Defence was prepared to provide an officer and a non‑commissioned officer to serve as instructors for an extended period of time. In practice, the number of Dutch instructors varied from 1 to 3.

The task of the instructors slowly changed from a managerial one into a purely advisory one. The Netherlands therefore reduced its contribution in December 1995 to 1 serviceman. From 1 October 1997, the Netherlands made a non-commissioned officer available as a signal specialist. Working as a member of a 4-strong signal section, he assisted and advised Cambodian colleagues with respect to maintaining contact between all CMAC locations.

In addition, the section managed all communications equipment within CMAC. Another non-commissioned officer arrived from the Netherlands at the end of January 1998. The Netherlands ended its contribution to CMAC on 1 October 2000.
