The Dutch contribution to Security Sector Reform Lebanon

At the end of 2007, the Dutch government determined that the Lebanese army was the unifying element in a divided society. The army was inadequately equipped for the many tasks that it had to perform, however. The Netherlands therefore responded positively to a request from the Lebanese army for assistance in strengthening its logistic capacity.

In February 2008, the Netherlands donated 100 surplus trucks to the Lebanese army. 5 Dutch service members travelled to Lebanon to manage the transfer of the vehicles. In addition, 2 Dutch officers tasked with supporting the Lebanese army in the area of logistics arrived in Beirut in January 2008.
