A look at the Defence news 21 - 27 June

This week, a ceremonial flag handover marked the end of Dutch operations in Afghanistan. Minister of Defence Ank Bijleveld-Schouten and Chief of Defence General Onno Eichelsheim each handed over a flag to the National Military Museum in Soesterberg, where the flags will be given a permanent place. The first flag flew over Kamp Holland in Tarin Kowt from 2006 to 2010. The second flag had from 2015 until recently hung at Camp Marmal in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Bauer installed as Chair of NATO Military Committee

Former Chief of Defence Admiral Rob Bauer has been installed as Chair of the NATO Military Committee. The committee, which is based in Brussels, elected Bauer to the position last autumn.
