A look at the Defence news 5 - 11 July
“8,000 men and boys were killed on European territory. Brothers, sons, fathers and friends disappeared in 1 day. And with them their dreams, their ideals, their plans: their future.”
These were among the words spoken in The Hague by the Netherlands Minister of Defence Ank Bijleveld-Schouten to underline that the genocide in Srebrenica must never be forgotten. She was commemorating the event that took place 26 years ago, when thousands of Muslims died. At the time, Dutch soldiers from Dutchbat 3 were deployed in the area.
