Chinooks battle sea of flames in Albania

A Royal Netherlands Air Force Chinook transport helicopter flew to Albania to help battle the forest fires. The helicopter is being deployed over the Karaburun peninsula. A Chinook can release approximately 10,000 litres of water at a time from a flexible bag suspended from the aircraft. These operations take place in daylight, from 6 o’clock in the morning until 8 at night. A second Chinook is on stand-by in order to guarantee continued deployability.
