NATO intends to refocus on its collective defence capability. A credible and well-prepared collective defence can also work as a deterrent, which will hopefully make actual defensive operations unnecessary. This subject was discussed by NATO ministers of defence last week during the NATO summit. They also approved a strategic plan for military deployment in crisis and conflict situations.
