F-16s deployed for the protection of NATO airspace over Eastern Europe
2 F-16s have just taken off from Volkel Air Base. Both aircraft have been tasked with protecting NATO airspace over Eastern Europe. They are operating alternately with the F-35s. Fighter aircraft are deployed in rotation. Eight fighter aircraft are available for the current task.
An Airbus A330 from the NATO pool of aircraft based at Eindhoven Air Base is also being deployed. The aircraft is used to refuel fighter aircraft in the air.
