The Netherlands supports Jordan with medical supplies

In follow up on a request, made by HM King Abdullah II of Jordan to Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands, The Royal Netherlands Airforce delivered several bundles with medical supplies to Jordan in November 2023. These supplies have been used by Jordan in recent airdrops to resupply one of Jordans fieldhospitals in the Gaza strip.

This evening additional cargo was precision-dropped in a joint operation of the Royal Jordanian Airforce together with the Royal Airforce of the Netherlands in the vicinity of the Jordanian field hospital in the city of Gaza. The Jordanian and Netherlands Airforces closely cooperate in order to ensure delivery of all the necessary supplies in a complex operation.

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan operates a military field hospital in Gaza since 2009. Since the conflict in Gaza erupted, the Jordanian Army has opened up a second military field hospital in the city of Khan Younis. Jordan has executed nine airdrops earlier.

Both countries intent to alleviate the needs in Gaza to the best of their abilities. The area is virtually inaccessible by road. This is also difficult by air, partly because of the threat of ongoing fighting. That is why the goods are dropped from a military aircraft that has self-protection equipment.
