The Netherlands to donate watercraft to Ukraine
The Netherlands is to provide fast and highly manoeuvrable rubber and patrol boats as well as assault craft to Ukraine. The Netherlands also contributing € 250 million to the Czech initiative to order large numbers of artillery shells for Ukraine in the short term. This was reported by the government in a letter to the House of Representatives.
The delivery concerns 14 rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIBs), 8 militarised river patrol boats and CB90 assault craft. Some of these watercraft will be supplied from Defence’s own inventory while others will be sourced from industry.
Since the beginning of December 2023, the Netherlands has supplied different kinds of ammunition, radar systems and individual weapons such as rifles and machine guns. Field hospitals, tents and accessories, generators and numerous medical goods have also been sent to Ukraine.
Moreover, it was announced last Monday evening that the Netherlands will supply over €100 million in additional ammunition. In addition to continued Dutch support over the long term, more ammunition is a top priority for Ukraine.
10-year security agreement
The previously announced 10-year security agreement with Ukraine was officially signed by Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands and President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine. The agreement focuses on security cooperation, including military support in the medium and long term.
In addition to the Netherlands, 31 countries and the EU have concluded an official agreement with Ukraine. These agreements illustrate that the Netherlands and international partners will continue to support Ukraine over the long term in its defence against Russian aggression.
