First flight for helicopter detachment in Iraq

The helicopter detachment at Al-Asad Air Base in Iraq carried out its first operational flight. Operating three Chinook transport helicopters, the detachment will serve two missions for a period of one year. The three Chinooks arrived in Iraq in a disassembled state in April. Ground running and test flights were carried out after the technical crew had reassembled the transport helicopters. Following the arrival of the advance detachment, the main detachment arrived in Iraq at the beginning of May. The unit was able to start work following the signing of the cooperation agreement earlier today.
