A look at the Defence news 29 July – 4 August

The Defence organisation has started operations for the recovery of two Second World War aircraft wrecks in the municipality of Noordoost-Friesland.

To ensure that everything runs as safely as possible, a construction pit is installed up to a depth of 8 meters.

It concerns a Vickers Wellington HE346 of the Royal Air Force and a Messerschmitt Bf109 of the German Luftwaffe. The wreckages of the two aircraft are believed to contain the remains of six crew members.

Defence in the Caribbean provides assistance on Sint Maarten during election period

The Defence organisation is lending support to the police force on the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten to guarantee security and maintain public order around the elections, which will take place on 19 August. The assistance is provided at the request of the local authorities and will last until 31 August.
