The Admiralty in Den Helder directs the activities of the Royal Netherlands Navy under leadership of the commander.
Royal Netherlands Navy staff
The staff of the Royal Netherlands Navy is responsible for developing policy and for overall management of the organisation.
The staff comprises 4 directorates:
- Operations;
- Operational Support;
- Planning and Control;
- Personnel.
Coastguard
The Royal Netherlands Navy also has 2 smaller directorates:
- the Netherlands Coastguard, which is responsible for carrying out coastguard tasks in the North Sea;
- the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard.
Admiralty Board
The Admiralty Board makes important decisions about the Navy. It is the highest decision-making and advisory body within the Royal Netherlands Navy.
