Admiralty Benelux

The Dutch and Belgian navies engage in intensive cooperation. The 2 national operational navy staffs combine to form 1 staff, the Admiralty Benelux.

Belgium and the Netherlands have agreed upon which ships and units from the 2 navies are available for use by the Admiralty Benelux. The Dutch and Belgian navies work together in the areas of:

  • training;
  • the purchase of ships;
  • ship maintenance;
  • logistic organisation.

Headquarters in Den Helder

The Headquarters of the Admiralty Benelux (ABNL) is located in Den Helder. The Dutch Commander of the Royal Netherlands Navy is at the head of the Admiralty Benelux. The commander of the Belgian Navy component is his deputy.
