Our military personnel are sent to conflict areas to protect the international rule of law. In each mission, the Defence organisation strives to protect civilians as best it can. The Defence organisation communicates as transparently as possible about civilian casualties as a result of the deployment of weapons by Dutch military personnel. It also carries out investigations into incidents involving civilian casualties in order to reduce the likelihood of such casualties occurring in future missions.
