Civilian casualties

Our military personnel are deployed to conflict areas in order to protect the international rule of law. In each mission, the Ministry of Defence strives to protect civilians to the best of its abilities. If civilian casualties do occur as a result of the deployment of weapons by Dutch military personnel, the Ministry of Defence communicates as transparently as possible about these occurrences. It also carries out retrospective investigations into possible civilian casualties, in order to reduce the likelihood of such casualties occurring in future missions.
