Forest fires in Greece

During the summer of 2007, a number of devastating forest fires broke out in Greece, mainly on the Peloponnese peninsula. The fires destroyed an area of woodland, olive groves and agricultural land measuring 2.700 square kilometres and claimed the lives of 84 people.
