New air force commander: high time for society to wake up
On 14 April, Lieutenant General André Steur was appointed as the new Commander of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. His predecessor, Lieutenant General Dennis Luyt, handed over command to him after seven years in that position.
The new commander said that he would continue Luyts’ journey of continuous improvement, change and innovation. He went on to say that Dutch military personnel must be given the best training and materiel that they need to fight and to win and that it is high time for the whole of society to wake up. He ended his speech by reminding the audience that peace and security requires commitment from all of us.
