Military personnel from the armed forces’ Airmobile Brigade and Marine Corps are therefore taking part in the very intensive Jungle Warfare Course, which started in late September and lasts until mid-December. If you can survive the Surinamese jungle, you can survive anything.
King examines maritime warfare at sea
Last week, King Willem-Alexander sailed in Scottish waters on the multi-purpose frigate HNLMS Van Amstel. The ship is preparing for naval warfare as part of NATO’s SNMG1 fleet. The preparations included Exercise Strike Warrior, which ended last Sunday.
Americans have their eyes on Dutch defence innovations
Last week, Heidi Shyu, the US Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering and as such the Pentagon's innovation portfolio holder, visited the Netherlands. The US sees great potential in cooperation with the Netherlands in the field of defence innovations. Ms. Shyu was welcomed by the Netherlands State Secretary for Defence Gijs Tuinman.
