An RNLAF C-130 transport aircraft has dropped a total of 108,296 kilos of emergency aid in Gaza in August, including food, drinking water and medical supplies.
The relief effort was carried out together with international partners. Canada, Indonesia, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates took part alongside eight European countries.
Brekelmans: "Europe must continue to stand firm in supporting Ukraine"
In Copenhagen, Netherlands Minister of Defence Ruben Brekelmans stressed the importance of firm and united European support for Ukraine. He and his EU counterparts were in Denmark for the Informal Meeting of Defence Ministers.
F-35s in Poland ready for NATO airspace surveillance
Dutch F-35s based in Poland will secure NATO airspace over Eastern Europe for a period of three months. They will do this together with their Norwegian colleagues. The fighter aircraft are to ensure, among other things, that military equipment donated to Ukraine by NATO countries reaches its destination safely. The F-35s will remain within the NATO treaty area.
Dutch providers targeted by Salt Typhoon
The Netherlands was among the targets of the global cyber espionage campaign mounted by the Chinese hacking organisation Salt Typhoon. This was reported by the Dutch intelligence and security services MIVD and AIVD. At the end of 2024, a large-scale Chinese cyber espionage campaign against the global telecom sector came to light. The US blames the state-backed Chinese hacker group Salt Typhoon for this campaign.
HNLMS Friesland intercepts more than 300 kilos of cocaine
HNLMS Friesland has once again intercepted a shipment of drugs in the Caribbean. Last week, it was announced that this catch consisted of 318 kilos of cocaine, intercepted on 18 August as part of an operation. It was already the eighth time the ship was successful.
