Over the coming months, HNLMS Friesland will be on patrol in the Caribbean. During this time, the guard ship will also be available to provide emergency assistance.
The Friesland operates together with an NH90 maritime combat helicopter, which will be deployed to conduct reconnaissance missions away from the ship.
Dutch troops in Lithuania under German command
Last week, Dutch military personnel serving in the Multinational Battlegroup Lithuania were placed under the command of Germany's 45 Armoured Brigade. For the past nine years, the multinational battalion was under the command of the Lithuanian Iron Wolf Brigade.
The Netherlands calls for action at political summit on AI in Spain
The third edition of the Responsible AI in the Military Domain (REAIM) Summit was held in the Spanish city of A Coruña last week. At the summit, Netherlands Minister of Defence Ruben Brekelmans stressed the importance of the responsible use of AI for military purposes. Therefore, it is necessary to make international agreements and develop standards that provide clear guidance, the minister added.
